Jackson Square is a good sport as event celebrates fitness and mindfulness
A day of sporting fun scored a success for Jackson Square shopping centre in Bishop’s Stortford.
The precinct hosted a hosted a fun-filled day where children of all ages joined in various activities including ‘beat the goalie’, sack race and handball.
The event on Saturday also focused on mindfulness with the creation of an annual community wall project with bright and beautiful illustrations of different sports.
Michael Smith, Jackson Square’s manager, said: “The event celebrated partnership with a host of community groups and brought together children of Bishop’s Stortford to further
spread the important message of health and wellbeing. We know that an active child is a happier child and we are delighted that many children took part in the fun, enjoyed themselves and hope the event inspired them to stay active.
“We are delighted to have welcomed schools, including Thorn Grove Primary School to help us create our community wall. Visitors can come down to the centre in due course to view
the beautiful works of art that so many children helped to create over the weekend.”
One of the day’s activities included yoga workshops from Sara Thompson, local business owner and founder of The Wonder Tree. “I believe in teaching children life skills, enabling them to enjoy the wonders of life and to know how wonderful they are,” she said.
