LEARN MOREStansted author Amanda Campbell has penned her third pyschological thriller – and early reviews suggest it's her best yet.
Search No Further was officially launched on Thursday (Dec 16) via Facebook Live.
The 52-year-old mother of three from Bentfield Green, who used the first coronavirus pandemic lockdown to write her debut novel, Leave Well Alone, under the name AJ Campbell, revealed how her love of writing had really taken off.
"I've loved writing this one, it just flowed. I love psychological suspense and the psychology behind why people do the things they do.
"My first book was an Amazon best-seller so I'm hoping this one will be too. The response so far has been fantastic."
The story centres on glamorous Cara De Rosa, who runs a rapidly expanding chain of Italian restaurants. When she collapses from a suspected heart attack, Cara believes someone wants her dead.
Her granddaughter, Sienna, steps in to investigate. "The more she delves into the family, the more she finds out the family is riddled with deceit, lies and secrets," says Amanda.
Search No Further is Amanda's third novel in 16 months, following Leave Well Alone and Don't Come Looking.
She and husband Andy have an older son, Billy, in his early 20s, but it was only after the birth of twin boys Edward and Josh, now 15, that she began keeping a journal and creating short stories.
She had worked as an accountant for several investment banks in London and then for Essex Court Services, but gave up her employment after the twins’ arrival as Josh was born with cerebral palsy and is profoundly deaf and required her full-time care.
Amanda said that writing gave her “time out” from caring. “It was my way of dealing with what I was going through at the time, but it’s also something I just love doing – my escapism.”
