Bellway to build second phase of homes at Bishop's Stortford railway station
Bellway is to develop the second residential phase – 170 apartments – of the Bishop’s Stortford Goods Yard development at the town's railway station.
In all, the £200m project by Solum – a joint venture between Network Rail and Keir – will deliver a total of 586 new homes, plus an 85-bed Premier Inn hotel, a 55-bed care home and shops and offices.
It will also provide a new station square and transport interchange, two multi-storey car parks and a 'bus only' road across the brownfield former railway goods yard linking London Road with Station Road.
Bellway is building 323 of the new homes, featuring a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments across the two phases. Construction work on the first phase of 149 apartments has begun, with the first homes due to go on sale in spring 2020.
Greg Allsop, head of sales and marketing for Bellway North London, said: “Bishop's Stortford’s excellent rail links to London make it a particularly desirable location for homebuyers, and the Goods Yard’s close proximity to the railway station means it's perfectly placed for those commuting to the capital.”
