Bishop's Stortford families have until the end of this month to complete the application process for secondary school places for their children in September 2018.

Local education authority Herts County Council is warning: “Whether your child is due to start primary or move on to junior, middle, secondary, upper or university technical college next year, make sure you apply for a place in good time.”

It is urging families to use its online service at hertfordshire.gov.uk/admissions. Last year, 99 per cent of parents picked this option and were able to amend their application at any time up to the closing date on October 31, 2016 and then access their offer and accept it.

Leaflets explaining the secondary and upper process should already have been distributed to families through their child’s primary, junior or middle school.

Those without internet access can request a paper application form that must be returned directly to the admission and transport team. Application forms cannot be returned to primary schools.

The application process for primary, junior and middle schools opens on November 6 and closes on January 15. Information will be distributed to parents and carers early next month.

Parents are advised to check hertfordshire.gov.uk/admissions for any updates to the published admission arrangements or timescales, and for advice on where to find extra help about applying for places.
