Beauty products worth £700 were swept off the shelves by a shoplifter at Boots the Chemist in Bishop’s Stortford.

A white man entered the Potter Street store at around 1pm on Friday January 7 with a blue carrier bag.

“He walked to the Benefit make-up counter at the front of the store and emptied the shelves and left,” said PC Derek Lewin, of Bishop’s Stortford police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Waitrose in Northgate End was the target of two male shoplifters who stole nicotine products, baby milk, toothbrush heads and food items.

They struck between 1.30pm and 1.45pm on Saturday January 8, heading directly for the health and beauty aisle.

PC Lewin said: “They placed items in bags in the trolley. They came in separately, both went straight to the health and beauty aisle and then left separately.”
