LEARN MOREA brother and sister who go to Bishop's Stortford College persuaded shoppers outside Stansted's Co-op supermarket to donate a whopping £694 for the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis.
William and Annabelle Rands, aged 14 and 12, who live in the village, stood outside the store at Castle Maltings, Lower Street, on Saturday March 12 with other volunteers holding collection buckets on behalf of the British Red Cross.
The international charity is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee which is seeking to provide urgent assistance to fleeing Ukrainian refugees and those caught up in the war with Russia.
Emma-Jane Slater, senior regional fundraiser with the British Red Cross, added: "Millions of people are at risk of the deadly consequences of conflict and we must get critical support to those that need it the most.
"We are extremely grateful to William and Annabelle and all of our collectors donating their time on the day, as well as to the Co-op for supporting the appeal and for their customers who generously contributed."
