Stansted Airport spring jobs fair at Radisson Blu Hotel on Thursday March 7
Stansted Airport will host its annual spring jobs fair next week and showcase hundreds of opportunities across the site as it gears up for the summer season.
Almost 50 companies will attend the event at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Thursday March 7, from 10am to 2pm.
Opportunities on offer include around 200 roles with MAG Stansted, which owns and operates the airport, plus positions with Ryanair, Jet2.com, Titan Airways, Harrods Aviation, World Duty Free, National Express and Border Force.
The airport is the biggest single employment site in the East of England and home to over 12,000 workers, but with passenger numbers topping 28 million in 2023 and with the busy summer season ahead, hundreds more new jobs are being created.
Each year, the airport holds two on-site job fairs: one in the spring and one in the autumn. Also, Employment and Skills Academy team members attend recruitment events throughout the year, and on Thursday (February 29) they will showcase airport careers at the Tottenham Hotspur FC jobs fair.
MAG’s group head of education and skills, Marcella M’Rabety, said: “Airports offer loads of variety, bags of opportunity and an employment and skills team that is there to support you. The roles available are perfect for people with strong people skills, a drive for success and an interest in building an exciting career in aviation.
“Those who land roles can take advantage of significant additional benefits including up to 80% off public transport, discounts on airport retail and free holiday parking plus access to dozens of free skills and training programmes.”
One of the roles up for grabs is aviation security officer with MAG Stansted. Jane Long, Stansted’s people director, said: “Whether you are working on the airfield or screening thousands of people at the busy search areas, an airport security officer never has a dull moment.
“As part of this exciting role, officers are required to conduct searches of passengers and their baggage, as well as assist all types of travellers, from business executives to families.
“If you don’t have any previous airport experience, don’t worry, a comprehensive training programme has been designed to ensure all successful applicants have the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform this vital role. A proactive attitude, enthusiasm and an ability to provide excellent customer service are all that’s needed.”
The academy will be promoting its free pre-employment support programmes, including fully accredited training schemes for those on Jobseekers Allowance and those who require additional support before applying for jobs.
Gosling Jenkins completed an academy course and is now employed by MAG as a driver. He said: “Coming to the Stansted Academy was a whole new journey for me, leaving my comfort zone because I didn’t know anything about working at an airport.
“As soon as I stepped into the aviation environment, something in me began to feel excited about the journey ahead, and the academy helped me prepare for that journey.”
