St Michael’s Hurst developer Vistry Group to build 50 more affordable homes at Bishop’s Stortford estate with Paradigm Housing Group
A further 50 “affordable homes” are to be built at St Michael’s Hurst in Bishop’s Stortford.
East Herts Council has approved the plan from developer Vistry Group and Paradigm Housing Group.
The project is the next phase of work following the release of the first of 208 homes – private, shared ownership and affordable rent – for sale.
The 50 additional houses offer a range of accommodation from one- and two-bedroom apartments to two- to four-bedroom homes. Work is due to start in early 2025 with completion by summer 2026.
The St Michael’s Hurst development will comprise 529 homes when fully developed.
Verity Macey, managing director at Vistry Central Home Counties, said: “We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Paradigm for the delivery of this 100% affordable scheme in Bishop’s Stortford.
“Vistry’s well-established partnerships model enables us to deliver the mix of housing tenures residents need and the amenities and facilities required to build long-term sustainable communities.”
Martyn Jones, executive director for development and sales at Paradigm, said: “It’s superb news this expansion has been given approval for Vistry and Paradigm to continue our partnership at the scheme.
“After the recent opening of our current phase of homes at St Michael’s Hurst, and our announcement of rent reductions with East Herts Council, this is a clear sign that our partnerships with Vistry are increasingly successful.
“We’re also thrilled that our partnership with East Herts Council is working well at a time when affordable housing has never been more needed.”
