Bishop's Stortford BID and the town council turned the high street red, white and blue to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Jointly, they organised a window display competition for traders, who each made a £10 donation to one of Her Majesty's chosen charities to enter. Good causes include the British Red Cross, smaller charities like the Reedham Children's Trust and regiments in the Armed Forces.

The competition judges were new mayor Cllr Dave Anderson, BID manager Gina Thomas, Adrian Bradshaw from Bishop's Stortford Flyer newsletter and Lorraine Perry and Danielle Reilly from CM23 magazine. After lengthy deliberations, Barnes Flooring in South Street was crowned the winner.

Gina said: "We were really impressed with the creativity and work that had gone into their display, which was all made from carpet. Second place was awarded to Heads You Win on Church Street and third was Café Thyme – we loved their beautiful ribbons around the windows.

"We were delighted to have 20 shops enter and we very much enjoyed seeing their beautiful windows."

Each window was marked out of 10 by the individual judges and then the scores were totted up to produce a winner.
