Coronavirus: The Salon in Stansted offers free toilet roll with every hair appointment

A hair salon in Stansted has taken a playful s-wipe at the panic-buying of toilet rolls in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Steve Fisk, who owns The Salon on Chapel Hill, adorned a sculpture in his shop window with a single roll. And the toilet humour has not gone unnoticed by his customers and social media followers.

"We've certainly had quite a reaction to it," said Steve, who in a Facebook post offered a free toilet roll with every hair appointment. "People are just laughing about it, but I suppose if someone came in and said they wanted one I would give them one!

"I've had that sculpture for a while and sometimes I dress it up – bunny ears at Easter – but its hands were just sitting there, so I popped a loo roll on it."

Steve, who can often be seen working until midnight in the busy salon, said that business had been going well since he moved to the village 18 months ago. Which no doubt means his bottom line is looking healthy.

The spread of the coronavirus and the outbreak of cases in this country has prompted the panic-buying of everyday items such as toilet rolls, pasta and tinned foods over the past week.
