Success for Stansted Youth Club as attendance figures more than double

Stansted Youth Club has been hailed a success as the numbers of youngsters joining steadily continues to rise.

Attendance figures have more than doubled since the service moved last year from its Lower Street base run by Essex County Council to the former Peter Kirk School building in St John’s Road, where it is now run by Fairycroft CIC.

Stansted Parish Council chair Maureen Caton said renewed efforts to boost activities for youngsters in the village had paid off and between 25-30 young people regularly turned up for the club’s 6.30pm-8.30pm sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The council helps funds the youth club and is seeking further financial support from Uttlesford District Council over the next three years.

“It’s gone really, really well. The kids are enjoying going and are very supportive of one another and the community is also very supportive of them,” said Mrs Caton.
