Storm Eunice: Over 1,100 homes in Bishop's Stortford, Much Hadham, Little Hallingbury, Burton End and Takeley hit by power cuts

A fault in a high-voltage overhead electricity line caused a power cut in the Thorley Park and Thorley Street areas of Bishop's Stortford as well as an area stretching from Much Hadham to Takeley.

According to UK Power Networks, the incident near the A1184 St James' Way was reported at 12.14pm on Friday (Feb 18) as Storm Eunice battered the town and affected 328 properties.

According to the provider, the postcodes potentially affected by the fault begin CM22 7, CM23 2, CM23 3 and CM23 5.

Power was restored around 3.30pm, but there were more cuts in Much Hadham, affecting 78 homes, the Burton End area of Stansted, affecting 380 homes, and the Takeley area, meaning 382 properties were hit.

The outages in Much Hadham and Burton End were expected to be fixed between 8pm and 9pm, and that in Takeley between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

A power cut in the Hatfield Heath area affecting 418 homes was not expected to be fixed until 1am-2am Saturday (Feb 19).
