Hillmead Primary School offers virtual tour and live Q&A sessions with headteacher to prospective parents

Hillmead Primary School is offering prospective parents a virtual tour.

Because of the pandemic, the Bishop's Park school is unable to open its doors to parents interested in applying for reception places for their children in September 2021.

In a video just shy of four minutes, pupils lead the viewer through the school's corridors and into classrooms, the computer suite, music room, cafeteria, school hall, outdoor leaning environment and playground. In a second video, headteacher Michelle Shenston delivers a talk.

The videos were conceived, filmed and produced by Hillmead mum Zoe Stiles Blackery and her company 2nd Wave Films. Zoe, who came up with the idea of the kids showing viewers round and designed the storyboard, was the school PTA chair for two years. Younger daughter Milly, 9, is still at Hillmead while Daisy, 12, is at Birchwood.

The head is also staging three live question and answer sessions via video conferencing app Zoom. These will take place on Thursday (Nov 19) at 2pm, Friday November 27 at 10am and Wednesday December 9 at 10am.

Each will be limited to six participants. To book, email admin@hillmead.herts.sch.uk, stating which date you prefer. You will be emailed a link to the meeting a day before the event.

It is a good idea to watch both videos – available on www.hillmead.herts.sch.uk/admissions – before attending the session.
