The Harmonaires perform Alexander L’Estrange’s Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose! with pupils from Manor Fields Primary to celebrate 10th anniversary
A choir will transport an audience back to when “sea shanties stormed the seven seas”, with the help of children from a Bishop’s Stortford school.
The Harmonaires will be celebrating their 10th anniversary with a concert at St Michael’s Church, Windhill, on Saturday (March 1) at 4pm.
The Stortford-based choir will be joined by Year 3 and 4 pupils from Manor Fields Primary on Thorley Park for a gala performance of Alexander L’Estrange’s Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose!
The choir, which was formed by musical director Josie Cowley, will be opening with songs from their past repertoire and promise to tackle a “drunken sailor” or two on their seafaring adventure.
The Harmonaires are going from strength to strength, singing in cathedrals as well as performing fund-raising concerts locally.
A quote from one of the judges at the MACC choir competition described their performance as a “superb presentation from this tight ensemble. All-in-all an example of accessible, varied programming of pieces, performed to an extremely high standard”.
Tickets for Saturday’s concert are £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s, available online from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-harmonaires-choir.
