999 staff among visitors to Reedings Junior School’s First Aid Day

Children got the chance to dress as an air ambulance pilot when their school held a First Aid Day celebration.

Reedings Junior School welcomed representatives from various organisations to the event, arranged by PSHE lead Laura Geggus, which began with an assembly taken by a representative of the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance service.

Visitors to the school in Bullfields, Sawbridgeworth, included Ross Leary, a community first responder (CFR) from the Bishop’s Stortford CFR team, and Harvey Steven, a paramedic with the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

They brought an ambulance and rapid response vehicle, which the children got to explore and ask questions about.

There were also members of St John Ambulance, who demonstrated CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) using dummies.

And Jane and Daisy from Pet Therapy Rooms brought their two spaniels and taught children about how to help pets if they become ill.
