A piano and picnic tables are just some of the perks St Michael's parent-teacher association (PTA) can provide after their summer fayre raised more than £5,000 for the Bishop's Stortford Church of England primary school.

Chairwoman Jenny Rimmer said: "It was a fab afternoon."

After the Apton Road school's event, she summed up: "Our summer fayre 2019 was a true reflection of our school community in action.

"We had the committed support of teachers, parents, governors and pupils who, working together, made it a fantastic, successful event enjoyed by all who attended.

"Demonstrations from the school's karate, hip hop and cheerleading clubs were thoroughly enjoyed along with the creative flair on display with our hat parade.

"We made over £5,000 for our school and plan to use the funds raised to buy a new piano for everyone to enjoy, update our reading books for KS1 and find new picnic benches for KS2."
