Former Herts and Essex High School student Carol Philpott launches Pregnancy Supper Club in Bishop's Stortford

A supper club for new and expectant mums to meet others who are entering motherhood is launching in Bishop's Stortford.

The Pregnancy Supper Club is being hosted by hypnobirthing teacher Carol Philpott in conjunction with baby massage specialist Lauren Creed.

Carol, who set up her business, Calm, Cool and Delivered, in April last year, first became interested in hypnobirthing after hearing about the positive experiences of friends and family.

Having used the techniques to deliver her own son, now 14 months, she decided to pursue her new found passion and retrain after being made redundant from her previous career in the commercial property sector, having been left without a job to return to after her maternity leave.

Now working with couples to help them prepare for one of the most important events of their lives, she said she is often asked by clients about opportunities to meet other parents.

Taking place at Bill's Restaurant in North Street at 7pm next Tuesday (Jan 28), the inaugural supper club is a chance for mums to connect and make friends with others who are starting or expanding their families.

Carol, a former pupil of Herts and Essex High School who lives in Farnham, said: "I think it's absolutely critical for any mum with a newborn to be able to meet and socialise with other people who are going through the same thing.

"Motherhood can often can feel quite lonely, and not everyone has the confidence to go along to a baby group or sensory class. Whether it's the sleepless nights, or getting out of the house with baby for the first time, being able to talk to other mums who are also in that moment is so important for a mother's mental wellbeing. Having that support and solidarity is priceless."

On the night, there will be a chance to discuss the joys and challenges of bringing a new life into the world, exchange tips and advice on adjusting to life with a little one and share birth stories in a fun, relaxed and informal setting. If it proves successful, Carol and Lauren hope to hold it on a monthly basis.

A £10 deposit is required to book your place, which will then be deducted from the final bill. More information can be found on the Calm, Cool, Delivered Facebook page, or call Carol on 07944 771064 for further details.
