Support Bishop's Stortford's Citizens Advice office this #GivingTuesday
Bishop's Stortford's Citizens Advice office in South Street is taking part in #GivingTuesday, the global day of generosity.
The event on December 3 began in 2012 in the United States as a reaction to the commercialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
It was brought to the UK in 2014 by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) with the key aim of encouraging people to think of others in the run-up to Christmas.
Citizens Advice East Herts (EHCAS) provides free, independent, impartial and confidential advice on any subject to people living or working in the district. It has advice centres in Sawbridgeworth, Hertford, Ware and Buntingford as well as Stortford.
Laura Hyde, chief executive of EHCAS, said: "Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity to focus on what really matters – helping those around us. We hope that this year people will consider supporting the work of Citizens Advice East Herts when making a #GivingTuesdayPledge."
Gráinne Mathews, campaign lead for Giving Tuesday UK, added: "Giving Tuesday is a chance for us all, no matter where we live or what we do, to help out a cause close to our hearts.
"This year we're also encouraging everyone to make a #GivingTuesdayPledge and think of ways to have an impact year round, in addition to on the day itself. That could mean giving a small monthly donation to a charity or setting aside a couple of hours each month for volunteering.
"Together, all of these pledges will combine to make a world of difference to so many lives."
