A developer has been granted planning permission to build 84 new homes in Bishop's Stortford, next to its current development off Hadham Road.

As part of an agreement with planning authority East Herts Council for this latest development, Taylor Wimpey North Thames will make Section 106 payments of nearly £2m. This includes over £1m for secondary education, £350,000 for primary schools, £62,000 for healthcare and £124,000 for sports facilities.

The second phase of the Coopers Grange development at Patmore Close will provide a mix of one- to five-bedroom homes and 36% has been allocated as 'affordable housing'.

Work has started on the latest phase. The first homes are expected to be available to buyers in summer 2023.

Andy Holloway, land director at Taylor Wimpey North Thames, said: "We've been building new homes in Bishop's Stortford for a number of years and are delighted that this latest planning approval allows us to broaden our commitment to the local area.

"The development will provide new homes, as well as affordable housing, and investment for the local community. In addition to this, we will also ensure that this latest development positively contributes to the local, and wider, community by investing in local infrastructure."
