Teacher Development Trust gold award for Bishop’s Stortford’s Avanti Grange

Bishop’s Stortford’s Avanti Grange secondary school has won a Teacher Development Trust Gold Award.

The accolade recognises its commitment to staff development and their professional growth.

A spokesman for the school in Newland Avenue, St Michael’s Hurst, said: “At the heart of Avanti Grange lies our mission to deliver education inspired by three core pillars: educational excellence, character formation and spiritual insight.

“We believe that nurturing outstanding teachers is integral to achieving these goals, and this award is a testament to the importance we place on equipping our staff with the tools and support needed to excel in their roles.

“A special thanks goes to Mark Nichols, assistant principal, for his exceptional leadership in driving CPD (continuing professional development) at Avanti Grange. His dedication has ensured our teachers have access to the highest-quality training, enabling them to thrive professionally and create an environment where students flourish academically, personally and spiritually.”

Avanti Grange opened its doors to students for the first time on September 1, 2022. The school initially opened on the site of Avanti Meadows primary before moving to a purpose-built campus in September 2023.

Ultimately, Avanti Grange will have over 1,200 students, including 300 in the sixth form.

The Teacher Development Trust is a charity, founded in 2012 by teachers and school leaders, whose mission is to support extraordinary leaders to empower staff and build expert schools.
