The Cock pub in Stansted is to reopen in the coming weeks under new management as a Turkish restaurant.
The venue on Silver Street closed for business in the new year and has been taken over by Veyso’s, which has a brasserie in Fore Street, Hertford, serving traditional Mediterranean and Turkish food.
The pub was owned by brewery Greene King. The outgoing tenants announced in December they would be leaving, saying that it would be closed while refurbishment is carried out. It is not clear whether Greene King still owns the building.
Stansted Parish Council chair Maureen Caton said she welcomed news of a new eatery, which would add to the village’s diverse array of restaurants and food outlets.
