Thieves raid vans in Waitrose car park in Bishop's Stortford

Two vans in the Waitrose car park in Bishop's Stortford were broken into in the space of three days.

The most recent theft happened on Friday (Nov 27) between noon and 3pm.

The owner, a mechanic, discovered the locks had been tampered with. Tools worth £3,000 and electrical cable worth £1,000 were stolen.

A van was targeted last Tuesday (Nov 24) while the victim left it for just 15 minutes.

The vehicle was parked outside the supermarket from noon to 12.15pm, leaving just enough time for a thief to cut their way in through the side and drill into the lock.

A £300 DeWalt drill and a tool box were stolen. The van was left an insurance write-off.
