Police seek two youths who stole £9,000 Yamaha motorcycle from outside Bishop’s Stortford gym Snap Fitness while its owner was inside

The owner of a distinctive motorbike is hoping CCTV footage will help to identify the “two young lads” who stole it from outside a Bishop’s Stortford gym.

Wiktor Dudek was working out at Snap Fitness in Riverside on Friday (March 29) at 5.50pm when his £9,000 blue-wheeled Yamaha was snatched in broad daylight from next to the bus stop outside.

A woman at the Port Jackson pub opposite reported seeing two youths riding past on mopeds before returning to wheel the motorcycle away.

She posted on the Bishop’s Stortford Community Facebook page: “I saw the little scallys on a red moped together...two young lads, late teens, one on a black moped, one on a red doing the loop past Spoons/park/station/back around. The second time around they were both on the red one to stop and pinch the bike.”

The Yamaha MT-09 is grey with bright blue wheels. Police said inquiries into the theft were continuing.

Wiktor, who lives in Thorley Park and works as an aircraft engineer at Stansted Airport, said he looked up from inside the gym and realised his bike was gone.

“I parked it in what I thought was the safest place, next to the bus stop and in front of the gym, while I was doing my workout. It was in broad daylight. I was never expecting someone to steal the bike in the day,” he told the Indie.

“I have ridden Enduro bikes before, but this is my first purchase of a bike in the UK – I am a Polish national. I’ve had the bike almost two years and bought it brand new.

“I have a car as well, but it was just an easier way for me to get around town, especially with all the traffic in town. It’s a nice looking bike too and I’m just annoyed that something like this has happened in the day.

“It’s possible somebody saw something. The lady from the Wetherspoon’s opposite came and told me what she saw and she has told the police. She saw two guys checking out the bike. They broke the lock and pushed it away.”
