Three arrested and suspected stolen lawnmowers, jewellery and cash recovered by police near Sawbridgeworth after call from member of the public
A call from a member of the public led to police arresting three men and recovering suspected stolen property near Sawbridgeworth on Wednesday evening (August 7).
Police received a call at around 6.30pm saying that a number of people in vans were acting suspiciously in Parsonage Lane, between Sawbridgeworth and Green Tye.
Intervention response officers and neighbourhood policing team colleagues attended and carried out a search, with assistance from drone operators from the rural operational support team.
Two vans were discovered parked in a field. Officers found several lawnmowers, along with jewellery and cash, inside, all of which were suspected as being stolen.
Three men were arrested on suspicion of non-dwelling burglary and handling stolen goods. They were still in police custody on Thursday morning and enquiries continue.
The vans were also seized.
A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: “We’d like to thank the member of public who reported this to us – your calls really do make a difference.”
