Three arrested and suspected cannabis seized in drugs raid on house in Sawbridgeworth
Three people were arrested and a large quantity of suspected cannabis seized in a police operation in Sawbridgeworth on Friday (June 11).
A warrant was executed at an address in Crofters End. As well as drugs, officers took cash and a vehicle.
A 59-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and were taken into police custody.
The operation was conducted by the local Safer Neighbourhood Team, with support from Operation Scorpion and the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire dog unit.
PC Shelly Marshall, who led it, said: “Today’s operation was carried out as a direct result of feedback from members of the public who asked us to tackle drugs and associated criminality in the area.
“Sadly, we know there are people out there who don't always agree with us taking this action in relation to cannabis. What people don’t see is the bigger picture around how young and vulnerable people are being exploited through drug crime and the associated violence it brings to our streets.
“These operations help to penetrate and disrupt wider criminal networks and we will not be deterred from carrying out this kind of action wherever necessary. If you’re concerned about drug crime in your local community, please report it.”
