A crash on the main road between Bishop's Stortford and Sawbridgeworth caused delays for drivers this morning (Monday, March 4).

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said that police were called at 8.22am following a collision on the A1184 London Road near Challenge Gym.

Two vehicles were involved, a Renault Megane and a Vauxhall Combo van, and the road was blocked.

She said: “Officers are currently in attendance, alongside the ambulance service. Recovery is being arranged for the vehicles.”

As a result of the collision on the main road, traffic queued all the way from Spellbrook to Little Hallingbury along Spellbrook Lane East and Dell Lane. The barriers on the Spellbrook level crossing remained down for at least 30 minutes.

Bus company Arriva diverted its 508, 509 and 510 services, which were unable to serve Thorley Hill, Pig Lane and Spellbrook.
