TSB branch in Sawbridgeworth to be closed

A “marked shift to digital banking” has led to the TSB branch in Sawbridgeworth being earmarked for closure.

The bank in Bell Street is one of 164 to be closed, with around 900 “roles removed”, with the vast majority anticipated to be through voluntary redundancies.

A bank spokesperson said that only 12 customers used the branch regularly.

“The decision to close our Sawbridgeworth branch was not taken lightly, but our customers are banking differently, with a marked shift to digital banking.

“Customers can use the nearest TSB branch in Bishop’s Stortford, which is four-and-a-half miles away.

“Additionally, we are working with the Post Office to ensure our customers can continue to access some banking services. The nearest post office is less than a mile away.”
