Two bikes stolen in spate of shed break-ins in Portland Place, Bishop’s Stortford




Two bicycles were stolen in a spate of burglaries and attempted break-ins in a cul de sac in Bishop’s Stortford earlier this week.

Seven sheds and a summer house in Portland Road, between Newtown Road and Apton Road, were targeted on Sunday and Monday nights.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses.

Crime number 41/4144/25 – between 10am Sunday (Jan 12) and 6am Monday (Jan 13), an intruder(s) got into a garden by breaking a padlock and gained access to a shed, but nothing was taken.

Crime number 41/4162/25 – between 6pm Monday and 9.30pm Tuesday, the crooks got into a garden but failed to gain entry to its shed.

Crime number 41/3931/25 – between 6.30pm Monday and 8am Tuesday, the offender(s) got into three sheds. Although nothing was taken from them, a bicycle was stolen from a summer house. Police do not have a description of the bike.

Crime number 41/4154/25 – between 11pm Monday and 8.20am Tuesday, a black Bianchi Specialissima road bike was stolen from a shed.

Crime number 41/4042/25 – at 11.45pm on Monday, someone smashed a window to get into a shed. No item was taken.

Anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously or who has information about the crimes can call Hertfordshire police on non-emergency number 101, quoting the relevant crime numbers. Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Police urge residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area.
