Under starter’s orders for fun at St Mary CE Foundation Primary School's sport-themed fair

It was sports galore as children, parents and staff enjoyed tennis, badminton, netball, rowing and pony rides at St Mary’s CE Foundation Primary’s annual summer fair.

Sunday’s World of Sport-themed event was attended by around 400 people thanks to sunny skies and raised just under £2,000, which will help fund new team football kits, new outdoor furniture and a microphone system for the hall.

Rosa Fradley, chair of the Parent, Teacher, Friends’ Association, which organised the event, said: “Everybody seemed to be having a good time and we had to shoo people out of the gates at the end, so it went really well!”

She said they chose the sporting theme to get the community more involved and so Stansted Tennis Club and ((BOUNCE)) instructors went along to the Hampton Road school to introduce their activities.

Rowing equipment was loaned from Stansted’s Romeera Leisure Centre and badminton nets from the youth club while the children enjoyed riding the ponies around the school grounds.
