Uttlesford brothers maintain family tradition by joining Essex County Fire and Rescue Service




Uttlesford has two new on-call firefighters who are keeping it in the family.

Brothers George and Max Curtis are among five recruits who have just completed their basic training with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.

The brothers are heading to Saffron Walden fire station, where they are following in the footsteps of their father Paul and uncle Mark.

Paul was one of the third generation of the family to join the service and at one point nine other relatives were fighting fires with him.

George and Max follow at least 15 other members of their family over the past seven decades to become firefighters.
