Rodings Friendship Club loses much-loved member, Bishop's Stortford-born Florence 'Florie' Crouchman

One of the longest-serving members of the Rodings Friendship Club has died at the age of 92.

Florence "Florrie" Crouchman was born in Pig Lane, Bishop's Stortford, in 1928. She moved to White Roding to start a family and had five children: Mary, Keith, Judy, Nick and Simon.

Florrie took an active role in the Rodings Friendship Club, a social group for over-60s, and was a committee member up until her death on August 28.

Her son-in-law, Brian Hockley, said: "[She] took a very active role in her early years with the club, catering for the club's refreshments; strawberry cream teas in her garden at Great Headlands."

Around 10 years ago, Florrie and her brother, the late Donnie Warboys, persuaded daughter Mary and son-in-law Brian to join the club. The couple are following in Florrie's footsteps, taking active roles in the group.
