Independent retailer Vinegar Hill is set to open in Bishop's Stortford town centre in November.

The family-run brand has signed a lease on the Jackson Square unit vacated by clothing company Joules in September.

It has a mix of fashion and lifestyle stores and its range includes homeware and gifts, clothing, fashion accessories and jewellery from around the world.

The precinct shop fronting Market Square is being refurbished. Once finished, it will employ seven permanent staff in part- and full-time roles.

Managing director Richard Austin said: "We are aiming to open in the early part of November but cannot provide an exact date yet as we have a fair amount of work to do to the unit."

The business was established in 1997 in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, where it also has a Vinegar Hill Wardrobe store.

It also has branches in Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham, Farnham, Henley-on-Thames, Hitchin, Shrewsbury and Windsor. The brand also trades online.
