Waitrose tokens of appreciation
Another three worthy causes have benefitted from Waitrose shoppers in Bishop's Stortford.
Each month, the Northgate End supermarket splits a £1,000 donation three ways. In January, £447 was given to The Welbeloved Club, £364 to Herts Hogline and £189 to Manor Fields primary’s parent teacher association.
In the same month, Waitrose’s Community Matters champion, Tracy Whitfield, met Ruth Hollingsworth, Joanne Luxford and Jean Wells, from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, to present a cheque. The charity was one of the three causes that benefited from the green token scheme in November.
Waitrose customers voted to give the organisation £447. It trains dogs to alert deaf people to sounds they would otherwise miss, like a doorbell, and danger signals like a smoke detector.
