People in Sawbridgeworth are being urged to wave their flags on Saturday and get into the street party spirit for the 75th anniversary of VJ Day.
August 15, 1945, saw the end of hostilities with Japan and marked the end of the Second World War, sparking celebrations throughout the world.
Sawbridgeworth residents are being urged to decorate their homes with red, white and blue and to raise a toast on their doorsteps or in their gardens for a stay-at-home street party.
Poet Gary Thaddeus, who read his poem The Old Sailor at a VE75 street party to his neighbours in May, said the story behind the poem, about a sailor taken prisoner by the Japanese during the war, was all the more relevant this time.
