Elsenham WI has raised £667 thanks to help from the village post office which hosted its pop-up shop.

Set up back in November, the WI was given permission to create a festive window display and to sell its handcrafted toys and gifts from within.

With the cancellation of its Christmas fair for the second year in a row, it gave the group a chance to raise money for its Friendship Fund, which allows for the purchase of flowers and cards for members' birthdays, illnesses and bereavements.

President Moyra Jackson said: "We are all amazed at the amount of money raised in the post office. It's wonderful to have been part of this collaborative community effort.

"We have a fantastic team at the post office and we are very grateful to them for this and everything they do for our village."
