Wilko staff secure jobs at Bishop’s Stortford’s new Poundland store

Familiar faces will be behind the tills when discount chain Poundland opens in Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday (October 21).

Today (Thursday October 19) the premises in Jackson Square still has Wilko fascia in place and the centre’s manager has confirmed a number of the failed retailer’s 25 workers have secured jobs in the new store.

As the rebranding and fit-out in preparation for Saturday’s opening continues, Michael Smith said: “Following the great news just last week about O2 joining our line-up here at the centre, I’m excited that the good news continues as we welcome Poundland into the former Wilko’s unit.

“It is also great to know we will be seeing a lot of familiar faces as a number of former Wilko’s staff have secured positions with the new store.

“Poundland takes pride in providing exceptional value for money which I’m sure will make it a popular destination for Bishop’s Stortford shoppers seeking great deals in the run-up to Christmas.”
