Spookiest Hallowe’en costume could win you a visit from Stansted’s fire engine
The winner of a Hallowe’en fancy dress competition in Stansted will receive a prize delivered directly to their door by fire engine.
The village fire station is opening the doors of its Chapel Hill base on Thursday (Oct 31), from 6.30pm to 9pm, to celebrate all things spooky and will be handing out sweets to children who come along in their scariest and most fun outfits.
Firefighters will choose a winner who will receive a big pack of sweets to be dropped off by the crew next week.
Crew manager Steve Perry said: “We just want to get into the community spirit and give something back.
“All the kids will get sweets and we’re going to be judging throughout the night. We’ll contact the winner to arrange a special drive-by with one of the machines.
“The more we can be out there and talking about the role, the more chance we have of finding the next generation of firefighters interested in joining a community-based service with a real family atmosphere.”
Stansted firefighters are holding their annual Christmas fair on Friday November 15, 3pm to 7pm. Also held at the station, there will be a variety of stalls, games and food.
