Elsenham woman, 79, arrested on suspicion of firearm offences
A 79-year-old woman in Elsenham has been arrested on suspicion of firearm offences.
It follows the execution of a warrant by officers from Essex Police at a house in Henham Road on Saturday August 24.
A spokesman for the force said: “A number of suspected firearms were recovered. A 79-year-old woman, from Elsenham, was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.
“She has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
A villager who contacted the Indie said that there had been a heavy police presence at the house, on the B1051 towards Thaxted.
“For the last week-and-a-half there have been three or four police vehicles parked in the lay-by opposite, as well as another three or four parked on the drive and the grass verge,” they said.
“There is clearly a scene guard taking place as there is an officer outside with a clipboard, taking names of all people who enter.”
