Off licence and Aldi shoppers prompt calls to Bishop's Stortford police

A woman tried to pay 12p for a four-pack of strong lager at an off licence in Bishop’s Stortford – then cycled off with the stolen booze.

The shopkeeper at Station Off Licence asked her to pay the remainder or return the cans of Skol Super.

She brazenly opened one of the tins, took a gulp, walked out of the Station Road shop with it and rode off on a bicycle. The incident happened last Thursday afternoon (Sept 5).

The next day (Fri Sept 6), shortly after 2.15pm, a drunken man started shouting obscenities in Aldi in Stortford.

Initially, he became aggressive towards another customer in the London Road supermarket and hurled abuse at him.

He started yelling “f***” and “c***” at the top of his voice and staff asked him to leave. When he refused, police were called.

Officers arrived at the scene, detained the man and took a record of his details, but he was not arrested for any offence.
