All three emergency services were called to the scene of a crash in Spellbrook this morning (Wed) in which a vehicle carrying two people crashed into a stationary tractor and trailer.

The accident happened at about 10.50am in Spellbrook Lane East, near the level crossing over the main West Anglia rail line between Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth.

Three fire and rescue crews, including two from Stortford, were sent to the scene.

An injured woman trapped in the wreckage of the crashed vehicle had to be freed by rescuers, who left her in the care of East of England Ambulance Service paramedics.

A spokesman for Bishop’s Stortford police said: “At this stage it appears that it may be slight injury, but she will need further assessment by the ambulance crew once out.”

Two police vehicles were at the scene. The road was closed for about two hours. The fire service’s involvement in the incident ended at 12.36pm.
