A woman was lucky to escape uninjured after she became trapped between two cars in a freak accident in a Bishop's Stortford car park.

Police and the fire and rescue service were called to the Apton Road car park at around 8.40am on Friday (January 10).

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "It was reported that an unattended vehicle had rolled, trapping a woman between two cars."

There was a suggestion that a parked Mini had rolled backwards down the slope of the car park just as the woman was getting out of the nearside passenger door of a Nissan.

She was apparently trapped between her car and the nearside wing mirror of the Mini. She was freed by the time a fire and rescue crew from the Bishop's Stortford station arrived.

The 86-space mixed short- and long-stay car park, which is owned and operated by East Herts Council, was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.
