Woman seeking petition signature steals cash from motorist at ticket machine in Bishop's Stortford's Causeway car park

A motorist who was paying his parking fee at a ticket machine in a Bishop’s Stortford car park had £100 stolen by a distraction thief.

A woman, believed to be in her mid-20s, approached the man in The Causeway car park in the town centre and asked him to sign a petition.

As she asked for his signature she covered his wallet with her clipboard. When she left, he realised £100 had been taken from it.

He told police that she was slim, wore dark clothing and spoke with a Middle Eastern accent.
