Woman steals Rolex watch from man's wrist in the street in Bishop's Stortford

A woman stole a man's Rolex watch from his wrist in the street in Bishop's Stortford as she "thanked" him for helping her.

The incident happened in Warwick Road on Tuesday (May 11) at about 11am.

The victim was at his mother's house, unloading her grocery shopping, when a woman approached to ask him for directions to a pharmacy, which he gave her.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire police said: "The woman then grabbed the man’s hand, as if to say thank you, before forcefully pulling him closer by the wrist.

"The man backed away and the woman released her grip and walked off. She then got into a vehicle which left the area.

"The man then realised his watch was missing and contacted police."

According to the victim's wife on social media, the woman started shouting at him before walking to the car and then continued "barking" at him, a suspected distraction technique. He did not realise his watch had been taken until he returned to his mother's home.
