Woman taken to hospital after being attacked by man in the street in Bishop's Stortford

A thug broke a woman’s wrist when he pushed her to the ground in Bishop's Stortford in the early hours of Saturday (Sept 19).

Police are treating the incident as an act of grievous bodily harm and a full investigation is under way.

The 34-year-old victim was walking along Station Road with a group of friends, making their way from the Port Jackson at Riverside Wharf to the Bridge House on South Street, at 12.35am when a group of four to six men started hurling insults at them.

The woman told them to leave her and her friends alone. One of the men pushed her over, causing her to land on her wrist. He then ran off towards Riverside.

Police were called and officers took the woman to hospital. An X-ray confirmed that her wrist was broken.

Her attacker is described as white, in his early 20s and muscular. He had blond hair, which was parted in the centre, and wore a white T-shirt with a bag across his chest.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information can call PC Paul Chapman on 101, citing reference number 41/75185/20.
