Woman taken to hospital after car topples off bridge and into brook on Farnham Road

A woman was taken to hospital after her car toppled off a bridge and landed on its roof in a stream on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford.

Members of all three local emergency services were called to the scene of the accident on Farnham Road shortly after midday on Wednesday (February 26).

They arrived to find a black Audi Q3 upside down in Bourne Brook after it had fallen several feet off the country road.

An Essex and Herts air ambulance and an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer were despatched to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "One woman was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital [in Harlow] by road ambulance for further assessment and care."

A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Police were called at just before 12pm today (Wednesday 26 February) to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Bishop’s Stortford.

“A black Audi Q3 had left Farnham Road and ended upside down in a ditch.

“The fire service and air ambulance also attended. A woman was taken to hospital by land ambulance as a precaution. The vehicle has been recovered.”

Both Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service crews at Bishop's Stortford fire station attended.
