'Yarn bomber' decorates Sawbridgeworth post box with crocheted 'Tommy' in honour of the fallen for Remembrance Day
Residents have expressed delight over a post box “topper” created by the town’s mysterious yarn bomber to mark Remembrance Day.
The crocheted creation appeared on top of the post box on the corner of The Forebury and Knight Street in time for Remembrance Day services on Sunday.
The town will be marking the occasion with a parade involving uniformed services including the guides, rainbows, brownies and scouts that will leave from Bell Street car park at 2.50pm to arrive at the war memorial at Great St Mary’s churchyard at 3pm.
The parade will be led by Flt Lt Alex Fuller, commanding officer of The309 (Sawbridgeworth) Squadron of air cadets.
There will be a wreath laying in the churchyard by leaders of various organisations including town mayor Cllr Greg Rattey and Hertford and Stortford MP Julie Marson before those gathered will be led into the church for a service.
There will be a wreath laying for Remembrance Day at Sawbridgeworth Airfield at 11am on Saturday as part of the popular Nostalgia Day event held at Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall.
