Youth arrested on suspicion of four assaults at Bacchus in Bishop's Stortford

A youth was found with a wrap of white powder after he attacked bouncers outside Bacchus in Bishop’s Stortford.

Police were called at around 3.30am on Sunday August 4, half an hour after the Anchor Street nightclub had closed.

The 19-year-old lashed out at door staff after he was ejected from the premises. He became particularly hostile to one victim and used racist slurs.

Police arrived and broke up the fracas. When they searched the youth they found the powder.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug, committing a racially or religiously aggravated assault and three counts of common assault.

While he was in custody, police tested the substance and found it to be a class A drug. The youth disputes this, so the substance will be sent for more tests. He has since been released on bail.
