Paul Nelson retains Bishop’s Stortford Bowling Club M11 winter singles title





Paul Nelson retained the Bishop’s Stortford Bowling Club M11 winter singles title.

He got his hands on the trophy again thanks to beating former winner Rick Helm 13-5 in the final.

The competition was played in a league format, with eight qualifiers contesting the knockout stages.

Kevin Tyrrell and Steve Foster pipped Denis Stevenson and Rob Perry 9-8 in the winter pairs final.

Meanwhile, the club is staging its annual open weekend for newcomers on April 6-7 (10am-4pm).

All ages are welcome and no appointment is necessary, just turn up in your trainers and get bowling on the artificial green. Bowls are available to borrow and basic coaching will be provided by club members.

The club, off Beldams Lane in Stortford, has two seven-rink greens - one synthetic, one grass.

Refreshments will be provided in the clubhouse and there is ample free parking in the Bowling Lane car park. The post code is CM23 5FE.
