Three members of Hertfordshire Constabulary win medals at European Police Athletics Championships in Czech Republic

Three members of Hertfordshire Constabulary won medals at the European Police Athletics Championships in the Czech Republic.

Sergeant Ciaran Palfreyman, PC Lauren Thompson and Assistant Investigator Hannah Ridley all made the podium in Prague.

They joined police officers and staff from 16 countries who took part in 18 different track and field disciplines.

Ridley secured a hard-earned bronze medal in the women’s 800 metres before, just moments later, Thompson did the same in the women’s 400 metres.

Thompson then added to her haul when her mixed 4x400m relay team, which included colleague Palfreyman, took silver just behind champions Germany.

“To represent my country in athletics has always been a dream and to be able to do that as a police officer is an absolute honour,” said Thompson.
