Real Stortford under-18 Lions hammered Hoddesdon 11-0 in Mid-Herts League, Division One

Nick Bartels scored a hat-trick as Real Stortford under-18 Lions thumped Hoddesdon 11-0 and moved to within one point of top spot.

The man of the match got all of his goals in the second half as his team cranked up the pressure on Mid-Herts League, Division One leaders Cheshunt with two games remaining.

Dennis Earle got a brace while Henry Wilson scored one and claimed three assists.

Ollie Brewer, Adam Row and Max Thompson got their first goals of the season, with the other scorers being Michael Woodward and Harry Senior.

The busy Lions were also in Supplementary Cup action last Thursday as they won 3-2 at league leaders Cheshunt.

Man of the match Wilson struck twice and Senior, who was named clubman alongside Earle, got the other goal.

George Hewitt and Ryan O’Byrne were were men of the match when under-15 Lions lost 2-1 to Letchworth in the Senior Supplementary Cup.

Lions, who were down to the bare 11, had gone ahead through an own goal.

Depleted under-13 Bulls fought bravely in a 4-0 defeat to Norsemen, with captain Hayden Lee named man of the match.

n Goals in the final six minutes from Jake Wildman and Callum Blair-Park ensured Bishop’s Stortford Swifts under-18s ended their Royston Crow League campaign with a 4-2 home win over Letchworth Garden City Eagles Black.

Also on target for the hosts, who finished eighth in the table, were Luke Taylor and Brett Lacy.

The under-nines produced another good performance in their latest outing as Samuel and man of the match Alfie claimed hat-tricks.

Jamie and Frank were also on target, Lewis T and Lewis RP were among those to bag assists and Harry F made some fine saves.
